STUCO: Student Council
October 1, 2021
With leadership, organization, people skills and more, Student Council is a great way to learn more about the school and be taught lessons that could be useful in the future. Toward the end of each school year, everyone gets an opportunity to run for Student Council officers and be on the ballot for students to vote for their representatives.
The positions available to run for are Student Body representatives which are Student Body President, Vice President, Secretary and Publicist. These positions represent all of the grades combined and have the most involvement in Student Council. Although these positions are usually held by seniors, they are open to anyone. There are also positions open to each class specifically, which are Senior Class, Junior Class and Sophomore Class President, Vice President, Secretary and Publicist. To run for these positions, you must be in that class.
If you decide you want to run for any of these positions, applications are available from Mrs. Guzowski in room C211. If you’re still on the fence, don’t worry! Elections are held toward the end of the year and you’ll be notified when you’re able to pick up an application and start campaigning once your application is approved.
Student Council is a great opportunity to be able to represent Lakewood High or represent your class to be able to plan fundraisers for dances, contribute to pep rallies, and figure out ways to help our school be spirited and make changes where you or your class feel it’s necessary. Consider becoming a leader in the school and keep your eyes open for elections to start in the Spring!
