Man in Madison Park Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping

Police identified a man arrested in Lakewood after allegedly picking up a playing child, attempting to run off with him. Jeremy McCusker, 45, is in the Lakewood Jail, on a $250,000 bond. He was charged with attempted kidnapping, a first-degree felony.

According to officials, the incident began around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when police were called to Madison Park for reports of a male, acting suspiciously, and possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He then tried to kidnap one of the children that was at a soccer practice in front of his coach. Luckily the coach and the security guard quickly reacted to this and pinned the suspect on the ground. No children were hurt and the matter remains under investigation by police.

Many 911 calls were made by the parents and the people around. Police arrested McCusker, who was immediately taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled. He is a 45-year-old man who was suspected to be on drugs. He was acting strange towards the people around him.
