The show features young, single mother Alexandria, living in a trailer, with two-year-old daughter Maddy. Alexandria is married to husband Sean Boyd who frequently abuses his wife and alcohol. He does not hesitate to throw things at his wife and daughter, causing them injury. One night, following a horrible incident, Alexandria flees with Maddy in the middle of the night. The two spend a lot of time in the car due to the fact that they have nowhere to go and like to stay on the move to ensure Sean cannot find them.
