The Varsity Girls Wresting team is a fairly new addition to Lakewood High School. Before the great addition of girls wrestling, we only had boys wrestling. It is so great to see girls hit the mats too.  The girls wrestling team practices and competes all winter. Their first match-up is December 11th at Mentor High School.

All the girls on the team have nothing but amazing things to say about it. There is one in particular, which is senior Jessie Twardesky. She said, “I like girls wrestling because it gives me an outlet that I do not get from anywhere else. I truly learned how to love myself, and push myself to a point where I can do anything I put my mind too!” Jessie also included how the support from the team is like no other, and having people cheer you on is the most rewarding feeling.

There is still many opportunities to see the girls team hit the mats! They have matches all the way until the end of February.
