Blumarine, the iconic Italian fashion house established in 1977  in Capri, was once known for its popularity throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, but by the latter part of the early 2000s, the brand’s fame and notability has fallen mostly to the wayside. However, the brand’s prestige has only recently been salvaged by the appointment of a young Italian designer, Nicola Brognano. Brognano, who previously worked with Giambattista Valli and who launched his own brand–Brognano–was made creative director of Blumarine at the end of 2019, and since then the brand has had a revitalization in its glamor and popularity, thanks to Brognano’s utilization of the popular trend of early 2000’s fashion in his designs. The newer collections under Brognano’s direction, with their low-cut jeans, bright pastels, mini skirts, frameless sunglasses, and paired with the Blumarine butterfly motif, has been a hit with the rich and famous, being worn by celebrities and models such as Bella Hadid.

Blumarine’s most recent collection, Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear, styled by the Russian Lotta Volkova, draws inspiration from socialites and celebrities of the early 2000s, the likes of Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears. On the runway at Milan Fashion week, the collection emphasized all the excess and over-the-top clothes associated with the early 2000s, all with Brognanos modern, Blumarine touch. Blumarine models strutting down the runway in denim dresses and ruffled tops, paired with bandannas, butterfly belts, and glitter, each of Blumarine’s collections demonstrates Brognano’s love for the early 2000s, and the restoration of the Blumarine prestige and status in the modern-day.
