How To Prepare Yourself For Graduation

For the class of 2022, graduation is not too far away. It could all just be hitting you when you realize the year that has been next to your name for the past 15 years is finally here. There are a lot of different things you have to do to prepare yourself mentally and with school in general. First, mentally, you should be thinking about what your plans are after high school such as work, school, trades, etc. Applying to colleges through College Board, visiting in person, looking for scholarships, and doing as many as you can is a good idea for those who want to continue their education.

Figuring out what you want to do after high school can be a struggle for some. Some people take gap years until they figure out what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Others know exactly what they want to do and the exact school they want to attend. Get yourself in that good mindset where you feel comfortable with your choice and confident it is right for you.

Now that you are mentally prepared, you have to be prepared for school. You might not have motivation in school since the end is coming but it is important that you still stick through it and do your homework and still go to classes. An important part is making sure you have all your credits and if not, talking to your counselor so you can get help figuring it out. Also, check your SAT/ACT scores and/or retake them if you want to try to improve your score. Keep in mind that retaking these tests does cost money so it may be a good idea to talk about it with your family before you sign up to retake.

Graduation is just a few months away, which means the real world is close. Being prepared for the road ahead of you will help greatly.
