This week at Lakewood High School, seniors are rushing around a little bit more than usual in this last quarter of high school. On top of scholarships, college acceptances, final exams, AP exams and more, seniors are also preparing for prom! As a senior who sees this firsthand, it’s very interesting to see everyone’s plans unfold and it will be even more interesting to see how the night goes.
Lakewood prom is planned for Saturday, May 7, 2022. The dance is from 6-10 pm which places pictures (at Lakewood Park typically) as early as 5. There will be students driving, using the shuttle, renting limos and party busses for transportation to the site of prom: The Botanical Gardens. “After prom” is a program that Lakewood holds at the school following the dance, which is organized by a committee of parents. The theme is kept a secret from the seniors, but in past years there have been activities, games and even bouncy houses. It’s scheduled to happen from around 11-2:30 am.
A very crucial message to put out before prom is the severity of drinking and driving. On a night like prom, the likeliness of someone drinking and driving is, unfortunately, higher than usual, and it’s important to do what we can to stop that. Transporation has been provided for a reason and after prom goes so late just in case circumstances worsen and someone needs to get a ride or wait to drive.
Prom 2022 is something the class of 2022 is not taking for granted since postponing it was a fear starting the year off with Covid.
