Foster Pool Renovations

As the summer came to a close and students started going back to school, Foster Pool at Lakewood Park also came to a close. This year is different, though, because the next time you and your family make it down to Lakewood Park to swim, there will be $4.5 million worth of renovations.

These $4.5 million renovations include a slide, 25 and 50-meter lap lanes, new diving boards, splash pads, and more shaded structures including picnic tables. Foster Pool was first built in the 1950s and last updated in the 80s, so it is safe to say that Lakewood Park is due for a new pool. The main goal of these renovations is to accommodate people of all ages with attractions such as the Splash Pad and other splash features for the little ones! When the Lakewood Times asked Foster Pool lifeguard, Sydney Hampton, how she felt about the new renovations, she said “I am excited for Lakewood park to have a new look and all of the new attractions that will be added.” Hampton also said, “It has been a long time coming, there is no doubt about that, but I am also going to miss the fun memories I made with my fellow lifeguards this past summer at the now old Foster pool.”

These renovations are expected to be finished by the summer of 2023. Even though this era is coming to an end, the people of Lakewood are excitedly awaiting the new look of a community favorite!
