Spirit Week

Sydney Hampton, Student News Reporter

Attention all Lakewood High School students: Spirit Week begins next week (Sept. 26 – Sept. 30)! This is a time for the students and staff to rally together and display their fun outfits before homecoming. Senior Madeline Kratz says, “I think the best part about Spirit Week is the energy and excitement that comes with dressing up as the themes because it is all leading to the Friday night football game and then the dance. The amount of school spirit this week is always at its best.” The Student Body Officers have decided to switch things up this year and choose completely different themes than in years prior. Each day, students who participate will be given two different options in which they can playfully compete against each other.

Monday’s theme is Jersey vs Ref; students can represent their favorite sports teams or throw on a referee uniform. Tuesday’s theme is Beach vs Biker; in reference to the classic Disney movie, Teen Beach Movie, students may wear Hawaiian attire or a biker outfit. Wednesday’s theme is Country vs. Country club; students may either dress in their favorite wild west clothes or dress as a member of a country club. Thursday’s theme is BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom; students can dress the way dads do at a cookout or like the moms at their kid’s soccer games. Lastly, Friday’s theme is Class color; Freshmen are red, Sophomores are yellow, Juniors are white, Seniors are purple and staff may choose one of the four colors from above.

Purple signs are hung up around the school with a list of the themes for each day of the week as friendly reminders. We can’t wait to see everyone’s school spirit as they show out in whichever themes they choose.
