Barnstormers Get New Director

This year, The Lakewood High School Barnstormers have a new director that Barnstormer students believe will bring about an exciting year for The Barnstormers club. Carolyn Demanelis is the new director for The Barnstormers. Carolyn is a Cleveland native who holds her MFA in Acting from The University of Virginia and BA in Theater from The University of Notre Dame. Some of her past credits include Grounded, The Eight, In The Next Room, Dance Nation, The Vultures, The View Upstairs, Mamma Mia, and much more. 

The Lakewood Times sat down with Barnstormer student Jacob Mariani. Jacob is a senior at Lakewood High School and has been in Barnstormers for four years. The Lakewood Times asked his opinion on having a new director and what the future of Barnstormers may look like. 

What are you most excited about now that you have a new director?

“I’m excited to see what she brings to the table and how she will improve Barnstormers overall.”

What are your hopes for the future of Barnstormers now that you have a new director?

“I hope Barnstormers will cater to more students this year and new people will join.”

Are there any shows/plays you are hoping to do this year? 

“Carrie the musical.“
