Juniors Vs. Seniors Football Game

Maddie Kratz

Hey Rangers! We’re betting you all understand the desire for competition. The desire to try something new and have a fun experience with the people around you. This is exactly what the students at our very own Lakewood High School contain inside them. A group of boys, including juniors and seniors, created their very own football team called the Cleveland Backyard Football League where they play pickup games every once in a while.

Last week Wednesday, October 12th, seniors (Bradyn Volcansek, Luke and Ben Jablonowski, Colin McCrone, Colin Cunningham, Reese Fishbaugh, Mason Ivinskis, Luke Mason, Sully Stois, Gavin Fielder–and others not listed) played against their friend juniors (Tanner Constantine, Mikey Klasa, Luke George, Joey Villafane, Keegan Schroeder, Andrew Krank, Chris Byrne, Drew Jablonowski– and others not listed) in a competitive, engaging, fun, and exciting football game. They played at 1 pm at the open Lakewood Stadium even through the chilly and almost rainy weather. The game was full of touchdowns, interceptions, and tackles everywhere you looked. The refs — which were some of these students listed above — played fair and made sure not to give a bias to either team. The senior boys came out on top for this game, but it was a close one for most of the game.

This game captured the idea of competition. Two grades who just wanted to play a game that they all love. Just for the sake of having fun, making memories, and just a little bit of bragging rights. It was wonderful to see everyone out on that field, not only the players but the students who came out to cheer on their friends and embrace the competition. This is what Lakewood is all about!

Look forward to announcements about a possible girls’ senior vs juniors football game that is in the works right now!
