National Honors Society

On Monday, Oct. 24, the National Honors Society had a charity event in Mrs. Sabin’s room. The National Honors Society recognizes outstanding high school students. The NHS distributes 600 scholarships a year worth $2 million. To be eligible to be in NHS, students need to demonstrate academic achievement by getting a GPA of 3.65 or higher. The senior class officers, Grace Hart, Charlotte Beno, Audrey Carson, and Cassie Auck, organized this meeting. They set up and lead all of the NHS meetings. During this activity, only the seniors attended.

During this meeting, they painted all kinds of designs and characters on pumpkins. The Lakewood Times asked senior member, Samantha Hudak, what her thoughts were about being part of NHS. “ I love being part of the National Honors Society. It is a lot of fun and you get to help others in your community as well. It makes our school a better place.” These pumpkins will be going out to nursing homes around the community.
