Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

This year, senior Elliott Snyder was selected by the H20 staff to represent Lakewood High School in a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This group offers community and financial support to those suffering from the disease and seeks to provide comfort to those afflicted with it. Snyder’s role as a sponsor for the event is to raise money for the cause by planning various fundraisers throughout January. The first of these fundraisers was a game of knockout basketball after Lakewood Boy’s Senior night. Fans were asked to donate at least one dollar to participate in the game directly after the game. With lines as long as the basketball court, the game was a hit.

In the future, Snyder has even more events planned. These include a dodgeball game as well as the opportunity to pie our principles in the face. Throughout this week, Snyder will have jars arranged in the cafeteria where students can donate money to a principal of their choice. The principal with the most money by Friday will be pied in the winter pep rally!

Rocco Crino was the first student at Lakewood to be nominated to run this event last year. This year the responsibility has transferred, but the overall goal has not. Snyder seeks to raise at least $10,000 from her efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Additionally, she has been selected to present to the Cleveland Clinic to seek their donation as well. With these many upcoming events and presentations, hopefully, Lakewood will be able to meet that goal!
