This past week, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, there was a Carnation flower sale! The junior members of the student council, in order to fundraise for their prom, are responsible for planning and carrying out various fundraisers throughout the year. This February, the junior officers were inspired to relate one of their fundraisers to Valentine’s Day.
The class of 2024, as well as their advisors, sold Carnations during the lunch periods for $2 each on Feb. 14. Students and staff were encouraged to buy said flowers and hand them out to friends throughout the day. There was also an option to write a name or note on a tag to place on the bouquet. If you saw students walking around the hall with flowers in hand, this is most likely where they came from.
Various student council members reported that the flower sale was extremely successful. They stated to have made about a $300 profit from the event. This money, as well as the money made in other fundraisers, goes directly to the class of 2024’s prom fund — a very large and pricey event. The more money raised, the less prom tickets cost to students. Therefore, it is very important to get a jump start on fundraising. This flower sale was just one of many events that the junior class, and many other younger classes, will host in order to raise funding. Thank you to all students who helped to plan and participate in the event. And of course, Happy Valentine’s!
