On Saturday, March 25, The Lakewood Ranger’s girls track team hosted a dual meet against The Saint Joseph Jaguars at 12 p.m. Field events that morning started between 10 a.m-11 a.m and the throwers were moved over to Saint Joesph Academy. The pits at the high school were filled to the brim with water so they competed over there and had lots of success. Senior Ceceila Miller placed second in the shotput and junior Gianna Chisholm placed third in the discus. The girls did a fantastic job in throwing and everything reached personal records.

Pole vault, high jump, other field events, and running took place back in Lakewood at the track. In the long jump, junior Kaydence Doxley placed first with a whopping 17-04m. In high jump, sophomore Lilly Burns placed 1st with a 4-6ft and sophomore Aniya Johnson came close second with a 4-4ft. Event 1 consisted of the 4x800m and St. Joseph came in first but in second came Anna Daso, Josie Kavc, Mallory Zavatchen, and Helen Fraunfelder with a time of 11:19.2. Event 4 was the 4x200m, which the Lakewood girls have a lot of success at. Kaydence Doxley, McKenna Hunt, Aniya Symons, and Charieon Doxley placed first with a time of 1:51.62. There were many more successes in the meet, but congratulations to these ladies on an amazing start to the season.

The score of the meet was 89-48, with St. Joesph Academy winning. “The girls worked super hard and competed tough, but there is always room for improvement,” says senior sprinter Aniya Symons. Lakewood girls track has dual meets almost every Wednesday so stay tuned and come support the track team!
