The Lakewood Track and Field team most recently finished their preliminary meet at Rocky River High School and are now headed to the OHSAA district tournament. This competition will determine which athletes move forward in the state OHSAA tournament. In the preliminary event, junior Kaydence Doxley brought home plenty of hardware after competing in four different events and winning every single one. Doxley participated in the long jump, the 200 meter dash, the 100 meter dash, and the 4 by 200. Her achievements on the team do not go unnoticed. Doxley even broke a meet record for her performance.

In addition to Doxley, senior Mallory Zavatchen is also finding plenty of success on the track. Zavatchen is participating in two events with those being the 4 by 200 and the 4 by 400. Zavatchen has been on varsity for the past three years and is highly projected to make it to the state tournament. She has also participated in this past year’s state tournament for the indoor track team. It’s no doubt that Lakewood Track and Field has talented athletes. The district tournament will take place at the end of this week at Amherst High School with athletes from all over Northern Ohio. As our athletes prepare for this competition, make sure to give them plenty of support! Cheer our Rangers on as they compete to maintain their spot in the state tournament and hopefully, make it all the way to the finals! Good luck to the Lakewood Track and Field team and to all the competing Rangers!
