Saturday, January 25th:
Swimming finished in 4th place overall in the conference meet
There were multiple podium finishes of solo events from many swimmers across the board including Riley Swift, Ava Watts, Piper McElfresh, Henna Memaj, Gavin Stimac, Caden Sandoval, Graham McAlvey, Grace Lowmiller, and Mia Resto. For team events, Ava Watts, Riley Swift, Piper McElfresh, and Hena Memaj all placed 3rd in the 200 freestyle relay. Then, Daniel Zagrebin, Shane Lindsay, Caden Sandoval, and Gavin Stimac all got 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Finally, Daniel Zagrebin, Graham McAlvey, Caden Sandoval, and Gavin Stimac all got 4th in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Boys basketball wins 54-37 at North Olmsted
This win sets the boys back on track to leading the conference.
Hockey wins 4-2 vs NDCL
They finished the season undefeated in league play. Finishing off 15-9 overall and 12-0 in the conference. It was only made possible from the attitudes and efforts of the whole team.
The Lakewood Rangers Ladies Varsity Bowling team finished off the regular season of the GCIBL in style by setting a new team series total (15 games) of 1886. Topping their record, which they set just two weeks ago. The Rangers were led by Hailey’s 457 and a team-high game of 170. Close behind was Anajda 425, then Phoebe 370, Bea 334, and Arianna 334.
The Varsity Boys team almost set a new series at 2472 but had to settle for the second-highest total in program history. (2510 is #1). The Rangers were led by Justin’s 649, the new individual series record for the high school, and the team-high game of 243. Ben followed Justin with the best series of 586, Dylan 494, Lewis 392, and Ryan 351.
Girls basketball gets big win against Buckeye with a final score of 61-37.
Ari Hueter led the rangers with 16 points, followed by Addie Garrett who scored 9 points. Olivia Andregg hit a buzzer beater 3 coming off the bench.
Friday, January 24th:
Hockey gets a big win against Cleveland Heights for senior night with a final score of 9-0.
It was a great game in order to remember the players that will be moving on next year. It was a hard fought game all around. Shout out to Ryan Sterling, and two hat tricks from Tyler Volcansek. Sophomore Fallon Popovich who has only been playing for a year had her first goal.
Boys basketball loses 61-64 to Buckeye.
Despite the tough loss, Riley Verderber scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds.
