After the election and swearing-in of President Donald Trump, one of his first actions was to begin ordering ICE raids on communities across the country. Areas once considered to be safe havens like churches and hospitals were infiltrated by ICE agents. Many people may think that even though these raids are happening, they aren’t going to happen in their community. Unfortunately, many people would also be mistaken. On Jan 26, ICE officials took over 50 people into custody from the restaurant ‘Cilantro Taqueria’ in Coventry, Cleveland. Not only is the city suffering from the shutdown of the popular restaurant, but also the dozens of people who have been ripped away from their friends and families. The impacts of the ICE raids are resonating with citizens on a personal level.
