Friday, February 14th:
Friday night, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Bay Village to face the Rockets for their final season game for the Cleveland West Conference (CWC). The Rangers and Rockets fought hard on the court, with both teams having a tied score of 23 points by halftime. However, this didn’t stop the Rangers as they came back strong in the second half, scoring 27 points in the 3rd quarter and 14 in the 4th, winning the game 66-55. They’ll be back on the court Saturday, February 22nd, in Mentor against the Cardinals. This will be their last regular season game before their first playoff game against the North Ridgeville Rangers at home on Tuesday, February 25th.
Saturday, February 15th:
Saturday afternoon, the Lakewood cheerleaders traveled to Westerville, OH, to compete at the Ohio Grand Champs Cheer Competition run by AmeriCheer. The Varsity team won 3rd place in their division of tumbling and stunting. Shoutout to Claire Noelker, Sadie Hanna-Kotula, Sophia Schelgunov, and Cora Barcelona for being selected for All-American. Congratulations to Kenla Hamilton, Sophia Schelgunov, and Jana Peterson for being nominated as Ideal Senior Cheerleaders as well. They will compete again on March 8th in the March Madness Cheer Competition at Dublin Jerome High School.
Saturday night, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Cuyahoga Falls for their first playoff game. Despite their efforts, they fell short to the Cuyahoga Falls Tigers with a final score of 44-41 after a very close game. While the season may not have ended the way they hoped for, the girls showed resilience in every game, making it a season to remember.
Sunday, February 16th:
On Sunday, the Girls and Boys Varsity Bowling Teams had their highest finishes in the State Sectional tournament in program history while also setting new team records.
Senior Justin Lacquement led the Rangers with a 621 series and a team-high game of 223, finishing 12th overall. Following Justin were Seniors Dylan Card with a 576 series and Joe Trzaska with a 544 series.
Senior Anajda Dajlanja led the Rangers with a 490 series and a team-high game of 185! Following Anajda were Seniors Hailey Ellis with a 467 series, Phoebe Klasa with a 443 series, Bea Allen with a 379 series, and Junior Arianna Vaughn with a 353 series!
Also on Sunday, Senior Drew Wallen competed in the Division 1 Diving Competition for the state of Ohio and finished 24th overall. Congratulations, Drew!
