Friday, March 28th:
Friday night, the boys’ lacrosse team took on the Elyria Catholic Panthers at home. The Rangers easily defeated the Panthers with a final score of 15-3. Seniors Malachai Davis and Ian Molinski led the Rangers to victory with 6 goals from Davis and 5 from Molinski. Seniors Bukuru Bafukamire and Michael Burke also contributed to the team’s win with 2 goals from each.
Saturday, March 29th:
On Saturday, the girls’ track team competed against St. Joseph Academy in a meet at home. The Rangers took the win effortlessly with the final score being 77-51. Chelsea Payne, Leah Bacho, Rita Yost, and Ava Cuffari won the 4×800 after a huge comeback from Rita Yost. Charleigh Doxley, Olivia Andregg, Sophia Eccher, and Chelsea Payne dominated the high jump taking 1st-4th. Freshman Ivry Gunka Woten took second place in throwing after throwing 75 feet. Sisters Charieon and Charleigh Doxley took 1st-2nd place in the 100m hurdles. Finally, both Ranger 4×4 teams got 1st-2nd place in a sprinter vs. mid-distance competition, where Charieon won for the sprinters after anchoring a 65. The girls’ track team is starting their season strong and only plans to keep winning and breaking records. Their next meet is on Tuesday, April 1st, at Gilmore Academy.
Saturday, the softball team played against Magnificat High School. Although the girls battled hard, they fell short of the Blue Streaks with a final score of 11-6. Ella Bower and Gaby Carroll-Greeves both battled it out in the circle against the Magnificat batters.
The baseball team had their home opener on Saturday against the Avon Lake Shoremen. The Rangers walked over the Shoremen with ease and took the win with a final score of 3-1. The team will take the turf again at home on Tuesday, April 1st, to play against the St. Ignatius Wildcats.
Saturday, the girls’ lacrosse team traveled to Akron to play against St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Unfortunately, after a tough battle, the Rangers lost 10-2. Senior Maggie Barmann contributed to the first goal of the game, then later was named Player of the Game. Later, Senior Luella Darr gave the Rangers their second goal of the game. Although the team suffered a loss, they are determined to make a comeback and will play again on Tuesday, April 1st, at the Bomber Stadium against the Kenston High School Bombers.
Monday, March 31st:
Monday night, the boys’ lacrosse team traveled far to Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown to play against the Cardinals. The Rangers undoubtedly took the win with a final score of 15-7. Senior Captain Malachai Davis led the team with 9 goals, breaking the school record for the most goals scored in a single game. The boys’ lacrosse team will play again at home on Thursday, April 3rd, against Holy Name.
