Tuesday, May 13th:
Last night, Lakewood Baseball took on the North Olmsted Eagles at home for their senior night. The game was close throughout until Lakewood took the lead with 3 points in the 6th inning, leaving the final score 7-5. Congratulations to the team’s seniors: Peter Checkett, Logan Ellis, Chris Hanna-Kotula, Ronan Johnson, Justin Lacquement, Brady Long, and Leo Soneson. The team will be traveling to Buckeye High School for their next game tonight, Wednesday, May 14th, to play against the Bucks.
Also last night, Lakewood Softball traveled to Magnificat High School to face off against the Blue Streaks. Unfortunately, the Rangers fell with a final score of 5-1. The team will play again on Friday, May 16th, against the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves.
Yesterday, the Lakewood Varsity Track teams competed in Day 1 of the CWC (Cleveland West Conference) High School Championship at Bay Village High School. They went up against the other 6 high school teams in the conference: Bay Village, Buckeye, Normandy, Rocky River, Valley Forge, and Westlake. The girls’ team placed 3rd in the girls’ division with 17 points, and the boys’ team placed 6th in the boys’ division, also with 17 points. For the girls’ team, Charieon Doxley (12) placed 1st in the Girls’ 100-meter Hurdles, 300-meter Hurdles, and 2nd in the Girls’ 100-meter Dash. Also, for the girls’ team, Charleigh Doxley (10) placed 2nd in the Girls’ High Jump. Additionally, the girls’ team placed 3rd in the Girls’ 4×800 Meter Relay, which included Anna Daso (12), Mady Lee (10), Mae Mohar (12), and Chelsea Payne (10). For the boys’ team, Aidan Smith (12) placed 1st in the Boys’ 110-meter Hurdles and 3rd in the 300-meter Hurdles. Tyrese Gatling (10) placed 3rd in the Boys’ 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Furthermore, for the boys’ team, Boston Truitt (9) placed 3rd in the Boys’ Long Jump and Rian Fetting (11) placed 2nd in Boys’ Pole Vault. Lakewood Track will compete again on Thursday, May 15th, in Day 2 of the CWC High School Championship.
