Lakewood High School had its Choral Concert on Tuesday, May 14. This concert brought in choir students from all grades to perform music they’d been working on for weeks. Their hard effort paid off, creating an excellent, entertaining performance with various songs to listen to.
Hosted in the Civic, this concert draws in a large crowd, as the audience anticipates the works these singers will perform. Whether you had a family member or friend performing or wanted something fun to go to as an after-school activity, everyone could enjoy this concert.
The performance went great, as the students were able to blend their voices or stand out during solos. The students shined and displayed their talent.

Various groups performed the songs, but everyone had a chance to sing. Whether it was all girls, boys, or a mix of everyone, all students performed their best and recreated melodies of popular and lesser-known songs.
Allison Demaline, a freshman in the choir, had her own solo during one of the songs.
“It went really well, and sounded good,” Demaline said.
Luca Eppley, another freshman in the choir, shared the same opinions.
“It went well, we blended very nicely together,” Eppley said.
The choir put in all their effort to ensure the year’s last concert was the best one yet. As it was the last concert, seniors will leave, and their high school choir careers will be over.
The departure of the seniors creates an emotional atmosphere. For the past four years, they’ve sung their hearts out on stage and shown their care for the hobby.
Demaline, in particular, will miss her upperclassmen friends.
“I’m glad we got to sing with them one last time before they leave,” Demaline said.
Rayna Brooks, the choir director, ensures that her students will always sing their best. This concert showed the singer’s improvement from earlier this year and proved how Brooks pushes them to improve while having a positive attitude.
“Ms. Brooks is so nice, and she’s always there to give tips on getting better,” Demaline said.
“She is very nice and has a good mix of humor and work in the class,” choir student Harper Williams said.
Brooks can create a balance, allowing the vocalists to sing their best and be in a fun environment to enjoy every day. It’s important to ensure the students are good at singing and have fun doing it.

If you’re considering singing for Lakewood High School, many students recommend it. Not only will you be able to improve your vocals, but it’s also a perfect opportunity to make friends who enjoy singing just as much as you do. It’s an ideal elective if you want to be in these fun concerts.
“I would recommend choir because it’s a very fun and welcoming environment,” Williams said.
“Choir is great, not only because it’s a great music class, but the people are so welcoming and amazing,” Demaline said.
Whether you’re an incoming freshman or graduating after next year, choir is for everyone, and you can add to the voices at the concerts next year.
A remarkable job to all the seniors who have just made their last concert the best one yet. They all sang their best, allowing the audience to appreciate the hard work and dedication these graduating students have put into their last performance.
“I want to say congratulations to [the] choir students of 2025,” Brooks said.
The Choral Concert was extraordinary. Students portrayed their voices perfectly and made an entertaining performance to watch. There will be more choir concerts next year, and if you aren’t in the choir, mark your calendars to attend them!
