Lakewood’s Rockin’ Roller-Coast

Lakewood's Rockin' Roller-Coast

This past Thursday, on May 15, LHS’s Physics and FUN Physics classes participated in the rollercoaster open house. Each group was tasked with creating a model of a coaster of their design with any materials of their choosing. Working around challenges like creating a loop and maintaining enough momentum to go over a second hill, the groups showed off their construction and decorating skills at the open house, complete with food, drinks, and cake. Attendees were able to test each coaster and vote on which ones they deemed the best in show, the most creative, and the one with the best decorations. But the open house wasn’t the last part of the roller coaster project. In fact, it was the precursor to the final part, as the next day, students made the trip up to Cedar Point to enjoy a beautiful day of riding rides.
