Each year, the biggest night of fashion falls on the first Monday of May. This year’s Met Gala fell on May 5th. The Met Gala always has great themes for famous stars to dress up in, encouraging them to embrace creativity in their clothes.
The Met Gala themes have been delightful in the last few years. From Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion to Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, each theme brings a twist of creativity and uniqueness to the carpet.
This year’s theme was amazing. It engaged with Black Heritage and honored how Black people embrace their identity through fashion and design. The theme this year was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
As stars walked down the carpet, they told a story through their fashion pieces. Famous Actress Zendaya had a beautiful, mature outfit in which she walked down the runway. Zendaya’s look was a custom Louis Vuitton suit designed by Pharrell Williams, and her stylist was Law Roach. Her accessories complemented her look, featuring a floppy white hat and beautiful jewelry.
The Jenners and Kardashians always know how to bring the theme to life through their fashion pieces. Every year, they truly go all out with the theme. This year, Kylie, Kendall, and Kim all showed up in stunning outfits.
Kylie showed up to the event in a custom-made dress by Ferragamo, designed by Maximillian Davis. Towards the top of her dress featured a black bodice corset that was slightly see-through, and around the corset was embraced gray tweed with black stitching featured in the fabric. Near the bottom of her dress was a stunning slit skirt made with more gray tweed fabric and more of the creative black stitching.
Kylie’s accessories were long black sheer gloves and a lengthy piece of black silk that trailed behind her as she walked through the runway. Her shoes were also a stunning add-on to her look, with the heels bringing out an extra point and shine.
Kim Kardashian came out on the carpet with a creative outfit designed by Chrome Hearts. The fashionable outfit was a two-piece leather design that featured a crocodile texture. Towards the top of the two-piece, her corset opened up and had a folded-over sleeve that gave the look a flawless frame. Her skirt was a long leather material that followed her as she walked. Her accessories took the look to a whole new level.
Kim’s designer added a hat to her look that gave off an elegant, serious vibe. Her jewelry—a diamond choker, diamond earrings, and a pearl belt—greatly added to the outfit.
Then Kendall came out on the runway in a stunning suit-like dress designed by Torishéju Dumi. Kendall’s look was made from deadstock fabric and formed into a sophisticated design. Her suit jacket was very sculptural, and towards the back was a knot that gave the look an added design. Kendall’s skirt was long and went down to the floor; it was the perfect grey color and gave Kendall an elegant, mature vibe on the carpet.
Rihanna showed up to the Met Gala in style but also showed off her new pregnancy announcement. Rihanna wore a custom outfit by Marc Jacobs and styled by Jahleel Weaver. Her custom-made outfit was a suit-like design. She was wearing a black barathea wool jacket, her top was corset-like, and her skirt was a beautiful fabric that featured a design of thin white lines and buttons. Rihanna’s accessories were a big black hat that sat at an angle on her head, which gave an elegant vibe to her whole look. Then, she also wore a cravat that featured tiny white polka dots. Rihanna’s outfit was stunning and brought the runway a fun and exciting vibe.
Each look at the Met Gala this year told an outstanding story. From Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh to Colman Domingo, each outfit was so inspiring and creative. The designers did such a great job with each look. This year’s Met Gala Theme was amazing and innovative; the memories of the designs will be remembered forever!
