Last night, the Lakewood girls’ tennis team took a business trip to Strongsville, Ohio to battle the Mustangs. Unfortunately, the ladies did not come out on top, losing by a score of 5 matches to 0. Senior Abriana Heinz and Senior Zari Newell fought a neck-and-neck doubles match to try to help the Rangers’ cause. The girls’ tennis team will be back in action Monday, Sept. 8, at home vs the Amherst Comets.
Last night, the girls’ volleyball team invited the Normandy Invaders into our home court at 6 PM. After a close match, we successfully held off their invasion, winning in the third set. Volleyball held a suicide prevention night, fundraising and raising awareness for those who have lost their lives. Remember, you are never alone in your struggles, and you can always reach out to a trusted loved one if you’re thinking about suicide. Freshman Laine Sheehan had an outstanding performance during the game, recording several good blocks and hits against the invaders, earning her the famous From the Sidelines “Who Put in the Hustle” award. Lakewood volleyball plays next against Oberlin on Saturday, Sept. 13th at 10AM. Good luck, ladies!!
