As temperatures drop and leaves turn orange, it’s time for pumpkin spice and other fall flavors. Lakewood’s own Roasted Coffee shop, located at 13417 Madison Ave., should be at the top of the list!
Sophia Syed opened her second Roasted location here in Lakewood in April 2023. During the almost two years they have been open, Syed has made her coffee shop a vital part of Lakewood—not only for its coffee but also for hosting community events. Although situated on a busy Lakewood street, Roasted offers a cozy escape from the outside world or a great spot for people-watching if that’s your preference.

Lydia Biggart, a Roasted employee for three and a half years, said, “My favorite part of working here is, honestly, the owner, Sophia. She’s just amazing.” Syed is the owner and also designed the space. She created a welcoming atmosphere by decorating Roasted with charming touches such as murals and coordinated lamps. The orange, yellow, and green color scheme makes the space vibrant but not distracting—great for those working or studying. With flexible seating like high tops, couches, and outdoor tables, there is something for everyone, whether they want to socialize, work, or relax.
Roasted routinely hosts comedy shows, community events and participates in local markets, providing entertainment and engagement opportunities for customers. Recently, Roasted joined the fifth annual Bunts to Birdtown end-of-summer sale, during which participating businesses offered sales, promotions and raffles.
What’s next for Roasted? On Oct. 10th, Roasted will host a Halloween-themed market in its parking lot, in partnership with neighboring businesses. The event will feature small business vendors, local artists and a rumored henna artist. It offers the Lakewood community an opportunity to celebrate the season, shop from local creators and enjoy festive activities.
The coffee shop is now ready for fall, and the seasonal menu is a must-try. The menu has something for everyone, not just those craving your typical pumpkin. It showcases all sorts of seasonal flavors. A Brew Crew personal favorite is the pumpkin swirl latte, which has the perfect amount of pumpkin while also having other flavor profiles of white chocolate and cinnamon.

Biggart said sweater weather is the most popular drink off the fall menu. “It’s a cookie butter latte with cinnamon whipped cream and Biscoff cookies on top,” she said. No matter what type of fall mood you are in, there’s a drink for you to try. If pumpkin isn’t your thing, they offer coffee in nearly every style, from house drip to cold brew. They also have a selection of chai teas and matcha lattes. Biggart’s current favorite is the banana crisp matcha from the fall menu.
During the winter holidays, they offer new themed drinks, from butterscotch to peppermint. “The different menus are my favorite part of Roasted. They never disappoint,” said customer Aliyah Plicka. Another customer, Erin Boyer, said that “even though I don’t get to Roasted as often as I would like, I never fail to stop in to try the seasonal menu or get a chai before school.”
Roasted, which has only been a part of Lakewood for a few years, has already made a significant impact in many ways. The coffee shop participates in local promotions, hosts comedy shows, showcases and sells artwork from local artists and small businesses—all while creating an inviting environment. It is also a women-owned business.
Whether you’re studying for a test, working on a spreadsheet for work, or simply looking to savor a cup of coffee, Roasted has something for everyone. Visit Roasted at Madison and Lewis, try a new drink, enjoy the atmosphere, and support a local Lakewood business. Treat yourself tomorrow morning—you’ve earned it after powering through another week.
