On Friday night, Lakewood football faced Buckeye High School and lost, 42-14. The game marked a sad end to Lakewood’s season, as the team was one game shy of entering the playoffs. From The Sidelines’ “Who Put in the Hustle” award goes to freshman Lukas Stoll for his outstanding season and all the work and playing time he has put in as a freshman. Congratulations on an excellent season, football!

The boys’ soccer team traveled to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy for the district championship against top-rated Avon Lake. They unfortunately lost the match, 2-0. The team had a great year, highlighted by many wins and district runner-up honors.
The boys’ cross country team traveled to Boardman High School for the regional championship. The team finished 16th out of 44, falling short of a state qualifying spot. Junior Porter Gilliland placed fourth in his race, earning a spot at the state meet and receiving the “Who Put the Hustle in Award.” The team had a strong year, winning the CWC title and qualifying for regionals for the second consecutive year.
The girls’ cross country team sent 4 girls to regionals as individual qualifiers, who all ran hard and fought to try and make it to the next level. Unfortunately, none of the girls advanced to the State Championships, but it was a great year filled with lots of personal records for the whole team.
