The Ameera Style
This week’s fashionista is none other than Ameera Westbrooks. I have admired Ameera’s style from a distance for a couple of months and have wanted to interview her for some time. Regarding her personal style, Ameera said, “I don’t have a solid word for it. I feel like I dabble in different types of styles, but the best name for it would have to be ‘Earthy.’” She explained that the Earthy aesthetic suits her best because of the color palette she often wears.
Ameera primarily shops at SHEIN and Fashion Nova because “a lot of brands nowadays don’t offer many sizes for plus-sized girls. SHEIN has an entire category dedicated to plus sizes, which I really appreciate. It’s hard to find cute, trendy clothes for plus-sized girls these days.” This highlights a significant issue in the fashion industry: many brands promote unrealistic, tiny, hourglass figures from a young age, resulting in a lack of size inclusivity. It’s unfair to plus-sized girls. Fashion is a powerful means of self-expression, and everyone deserves that opportunity.

Ameera’s favorite clothing items that she can’t live without include flared pants, bootcut pants, black pants, folded leggings, crocheted cropped tops, tank tops, and cropped shirts.
The jewelry Ameera wears almost daily has left a lasting impression on me. I could never be bold enough to sport the chunky bracelets she does. Ameera mentioned that her metal of choice is typically gold, as it complements her outfits better than silver. She explained, “I feel like I can style silver depending on what your outfit is and what you wear. I feel like gold just looks better on my skin tone.” That’s a valid point; choosing jewelry based on your skin tone—or even your vein color—can be an effective way to match metals to outfits.
The Hippie/Earthy Girl Style
This style goes by many names: earthy girl, boho, boho fairy, and modern hippie. Influenced by grunge and fairycore, it’s ideal for those seeking a natural vibe in their clothing and environment. I consider it a sister style to the Whimsigoth aesthetic due to their similar content and color palettes; however, they are distinct and unique in their own right. The Hippie/Earthy Girl style primarily features warmer weather pieces, making it more fitting for spring and summer.

Patterns
Common motifs associated with this aesthetic include leaves, floral prints, suns (but not moons), vines, brocade, and paisley. One particular pattern, characterized by numerous lines, may not have a widely accepted name, yet it’s familiar to many—often seen on tropical vacations. People frequently purchase clothing featuring this design to evoke an exotic and stylish vibe. If you watch thrift hauls online showcasing Hippie or Earthy Girl styles, you’ll likely recognize this pattern.
Color Pallet
The palette primarily consists of creams, whites, grays, blacks, browns, and various shades of green. Ideal greens to consider include olive green, forest green, army green, seaweed green, basil green, and pickle green, according to a Google color chart. It’s best to avoid brighter shades like shamrock green, apple green, fern green, seafoam green, and pear green, as these vibrant hues can feel out of place and disrupt the natural tone of the aesthetic. Additionally, burnt orange or any darker shade of orange adds a stylish pop that enhances autumnal vibes. Overall, the color palette should be drawn from shades found in nature.
Fabrics
When thrifting or shopping for this aesthetic, look for fabrics such as linen, silk, knits, wool, and cotton. This style is grounded, so opting for recycled fabrics is a great way to benefit both the environment and your wardrobe. Lighter, more airy fabrics—particularly linen and cotton—will dominate the fabric selection for this trend.
Where To Shop For This Aesthetic?
I have two stores to recommend: Earthbound, which you can find online as well as in person at Great Northern or SouthPark Mall, and SHEIN.
If you’re not already aware, SHEIN is an entirely online retailer. Personally, I find ordering from there to be reliable, although some people are wary of it. SHEIN offers a wide range of aesthetics, with the Earthy Girl/Hippie style being one of its most popular categories. Simply typing “Hippie” into their search bar will yield many relevant options. As a fast-fashion brand, SHEIN features very low prices, with shirts starting as low as $8. However, recent tariffs on goods from Mexico, China, and Canada have impacted prices; SHEIN is based in China, and goods from Mexico and Canada now face a 25% markup, while those from China have a 10% markup. As a result, the prices of clothing from SHEIN have significantly increased compared to their previous rates.
Shopping at either of the two Earthbound locations or online can be quite expensive. The last time I visited, shirts ranged from $30 to $60. However, you’re paying for high-quality fabric. While SHEIN may offer decent quality, it ultimately belongs to the fast fashion category. In my opinion, Earthbound is nearly on par with luxury brands found in malls. I adore Earthbound; it perfectly embodies the aesthetic, especially with “Earth” in its name. The store itself has an aesthetic vibe, where you can buy Hippie and Earthy Girl clothing while surrounded by crystals and pleasant incense. Here are some clothing items that I think fit the Earthy Girl/Hippie aesthetic that I spotted during my last visit to Earthbound.

According to TikTok user @swagfairy909, additional online shops for hippie and earthy girl clothing include thelittlebazaar.com and soul-flower.com. I have not personally tested these sites, so I cannot vouch for their trustworthiness. Shop with caution if you decide to explore them!
Clothing
Upper-body options include tube tops, knit cardigans, slip tank tops (the silky ones popular on Pinterest), button-ups, and blouses. For an example of a blouse that embodies this aesthetic, think of Ameera’s first shirt, featuring bold Y2K patterns. Halter tops, graphic tank tops, and slip dresses also complement this style. Crocheted pieces, such as ultra-cropped sweaters designed to layer over tank tops and crocheted tie-wrap cardigans, contribute to a more bohemian vibe with their flowy design. Long-sleeve blouses make this aesthetic suitable for colder weather, as well as spring and summer. Here are a few shirts from my collection that capture this vibe!
In terms of bottoms, linen pants and maxi skirts are the most commonly associated with this trend. Patterned linen pants can effectively break up the monochromatic look that often results from a limited color palette. Maxi skirts, which are nearly floor-length and usually allow the feet to peek out, also complement this style. While all washes of jeans pair well with the blouses and slip tank tops featured in this trend, darker or medium washes are typically preferred. Although shorts are less common in this aesthetic, they occasionally appear on Pinterest inspiration boards.
Accessories and Jewelry
In terms of accessories, you’ll often see belts, small beaded purses, leather bags, and wool-patterned bags with this aesthetic. Patterned tote bags, like the one pictured alongside this text, will be your best friend when you’re on the go and need extra space.

When it comes to jewelry, gold or brass work best with this color palette. I’m not making the rules; that’s just the way it is, much to the disappointment of silver enthusiasts. Gold and brass pieces appear more natural and less polished than silver, which is why silver doesn’t quite fit this aesthetic. Ultimately, the choice of jewelry depends on what you feel complements your outfit. Unlike other aesthetics we’ve discussed, there isn’t a specific jewelry piece that defines this look. My top recommendations include large gold or brass hoops, fairy or insect wing earrings popular on Pinterest, jewelry with embedded crystals, and gold or brass ring stacks. You can find many of these items at Earthbound or SHEIN, so make sure to grab them if you’re interested!
Styling
Here are a few styling ideas to inspire your own Earthy Girl/Hippie outfits. Pair darker tie-dye shorts with an olive-green crocheted tank top and gold earrings for a fresh summer look. Combine dark wash jeans with a white tube top and a red and burnt orange patterned button-down for an easy streetwear outfit that maintains a hippie vibe. For a dressed-up style, wear a patterned maxi skirt with a brown lace tank top, accessorizing with a stack of gold rings and fairy wing earrings.
