Lakewood football had a rough game against Rocky River on Friday, losing the “battle of the bridge” 39-13 at home. From the Sidelines’ “Who Put in the Hustle” award goes to Freshman Otto Wilhelmy, who threw for 154 yards and one touchdown. Lakewood football will play next Friday against North Olmsted for Lakewood’s homecoming game.
Saturday, September 20th
On Saturday, Sept. 20, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in the Todd Clark Cloverleaf Invitational in Norton, Ohio. The tough course proved challenging for the Rangers, with the boys’ varsity finishing 11th out of 26 teams and the JV placing sixth out of 25 teams. The girls’ varsity team finished 18th out of 24 teams, while the JV placed 15th out of 21 teams. The boys and girls varsity teams will travel to Rochester, New York, to compete in the McQuaid Invitational.
Lakewood girls’ soccer played Saturday, earning its second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Holy Name at home. Senior Alexandra Admaov scored the winning goal with 10 minutes remaining, driving upfield for a tap-in. Admaov also received From the Sidelines’ “Who Put in the Hustle” award for her relentless effort throughout the game. The team’s next game is Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at home.
