The girls’ tennis team hosted Elyria on their senior night Thursday. The Rangers won easily, 5-0. Senior Delaney Starr had a quick, dominant match to secure the victory. The team is back in action Monday, Sept. 29, at the sectional tournament.
On Thursday night, Lakewood’s girls volleyball team traveled to Buckeye to play them in a match. Lakewood won in three sets, defeating Buckeye on their very own senior night. Notable performances came from seniors Rowan Elyko and Olivia Baker for their kills and fighting spirit. Lakewood volleyball will play against Valley Forge on Sept. 30 at home. Good luck, Rangers!
Friday, Sept. 26
Lakewood hosted its annual homecoming dance Saturday night, making the homecoming football game this Friday. Lakewood lost 14-42 against North Olmsted, with both of its points scored in the fourth quarter. Senior Jacob Stoll delivered an amazing performance, earning him the coveted From the Sidelines’ “Who Put in the Hustle” award. Lakewood football will play next Friday, Oct. 3, against Normandy.
Saturday, Sept. 27
The boys and girls cross-country teams traveled to Rochester, New York, to compete in the McQuaid Invitational. The boys’ varsity team finished sixth among 23 teams. The girls’ varsity team placed 13th out of 14 teams, and the boys’ junior varsity team finished 15th out of 27. Junior Porter Gilliland finished third in his race with a time of 15:27 in the 3-mile race, earning him From the Sidelines’ “Who Put the Hustle in Award.” The teams will race this weekend at the Huron Invitational.
