Oscar’s Pizza is a local pizza place on Madison in Lakewood. It is attached to a bar and attracts many customers on weekends because of its hidden stage in the back, where bands and performers play. The restaurant is open from 4 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and until 1 a.m. on weekends. Oscar’s Pizza is owned by founder Bryan O’Reilly and operated by a team of four to five people.
Oscar’s is a relatively new business in Lakewood, opening in April 2020. Just two weeks into opening, COVID-19 restrictions were applied, causing them to change their business plan. The restrictions lasted for a while, but once things returned to normal, Oscar’s Pizza got right back on track.
One of Oscar’s claims to fame is that they are so much more than just a pizza place, Bryan O’Reilly said. “It’s so much more than pizza here. Our chicken wings are top-notch. They’re fresh. Everything we do is fresh.”
Their menu is broad, emphasizing fan favorites and unique items, such as the mashed potato pizza. O’Reilly told us it’s one of a kind.
One thing that sets Oscar’s Pizza apart from others is its unique, authentic pizza selection. They also offer an abundance of food, with menu options ranging from wings and pizza to burgers.
All of Oscar’s food is made fresh from scratch at the restaurant—everything from the dough to the sauce, O’Reilly said. “We make our own dough. We make our own sauce. All the wing sauce is made here.” All the food from Oscar’s is fresh, hot, and unique, making it a special business in the Lakewood community.
The restaurant’s owner and his employee, Kyle Euype, grew up in Lakewood and worked at local pizza shops. They love supporting local businesses and wanted to give back to the community by opening their own pizzeria. O’Reilly said, “Everybody likes to shop local, and the community really supports that. Now we get to be a big part of that.”
Euype said, “The busiest times are Fridays and Saturdays.” Additional help is brought in during peak events from the bar it’s attached to. Euype recommends the shop for quality pizza and friendly service. The business helps show the community how small businesses in Lakewood will continue to grow and become a place where everyone can enjoy a simple slice of pizza—or more!
