Fall Sports Senior Night

On October 8, 2021, the Lakewood Times attended the home football game featuring the class of 2022 fall sports seniors. The night started out great; the seniors walked across the track to the screams and cheers of the crowd celebrating their special night. There have never been bigger smiles from these seniors, and it was apparent that they could not have been happier with how their night was going.

As the band lined up at the back of the field, thunder roared in the distance and lightening struck overhead. Worried faces looked around, knowing what was about to happen and fearing their senior night would be no more. The audience was informed to move to a safe place and take shelter and the football team was ushered into the locker rooms and the band inside the school.

While inside the school, the director of the band, Clinton Steinbrunner, made the executive decision to announce the seniors in the cafeteria and allow them to perform their senior show as well. Parents were rushed inside to watch the show. It was moments after the show concluded that the football game was given a later start date and both the football team and the marching band got to have their senior night after all.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances, the playoff game scheduled for next week, October 22 2021, will be a make up senior night. Let’s get a loud student section to support our seniors! See you there!
