The Lakewood Rangerettes is a group of trained dancers who perform at every halftime show supporting the Lakewood football team. To be a Rangerette, you have to make the team by being flexible, having a dance background or be able to pick up choreography quickly. Although there are cuts, if you have natural ability and work hard, you’ll most likely make the team and learn how to be a Rangerette.

There are currently 4 senior Rangerettes who lead the team and have learned how to create dances through choreography and past routines. There are different ways to spice up their outfits and routines and they always do a great job of adding something from the theme of the game to their attire.

One of the Rangerette seniors Lindsay Gregg says her favorite routine is the senior routine that she collaborated on choreographing with the other seniors. This routine was performed at the senior night football game and will be performing it again every halftime show while Lakewood remains in the playoffs. They also just recently had their senior night where each Rangerette was introduced before the last regular-season home football game.

The Rangerettes is a great organization to be a part of because of their dedication to the dances, the support system for the football team, and fun programs such as having little sisters on the team. The older girls have a younger “sister” who they mentor to become an older Rangerette and exchange little gifts with before each home game.

Joining Rangerettes is a great way to become involved with the school and show some school spirit, so don’t be afraid to tryout next year!
