The Tea Lab was founded in 2013 and opened its first location in Cleveland. Then, in 2014, they opened their second location right in Lakewood, Ohio. Open for more than 10 years, the Tea Lab has been successful in bringing customers in with a variety of tea types. Starting with just 80 kinds of tea, it has grown to more than 200. The welcoming environment they bring, making sure that they can give you their best tea or even a great experience.

Carlos Ramos bought the Tea Lab business from its previous owner in 2016. Since then, he has turned this place into a welcoming place for people, built his team and trained them to know every tea product in the store. Ramos said, “The Tea Lab was started because at the time, there were so many different coffee shops…a lot of the coffee shops sold tea, but they [don’t] specialize in it.” The Tea Lab offers many different teas from around the world. The different blends and flavors they offer are one-of-a-kind and teas that you will not find in stores.

The store offers a whole range of teas, Carlos stated, “We try to bring in teas that people will enjoy.” Making their customer satisfied. Not only does Ramos do everything by himself, but with the help of his team, Isabella Chamber-Deckers and Kathrine Maciejewski, customers can find the tea they want. Chamber-Deckers said, “I try to walk them through like step by step… telling them different flavors, [or] what each tea is good for.”

Maciejewski stated, “We get all of our teas from different countries, India, Japan, and China.”

Carlos and his team make sure that anytime you step into the store, they introduce you to the different types of tea they offer, from their black and green tea to their unique flavors and different types of blends, and the many teas that you can mix.

Ramos stated, “The first thing we brought made was our Cleveland blend.” With a fix of the names Edgewater Breeze and Great Lakes Green.

The different teas you’re able to mix, Isabella shares, “My top favorite is the pistachio purer.” A purer is a fermented black tea that ferments for around two to three years. Starting from 20, Ramos is growing and able to mix teas, expanding their collection to over 200 in-store.

Kathrine Maciejewski has been working at the Tea Lab for 2 years and has enjoyed every part and aspect of it. Maciejewski shares, “I would say itś very chill since everyone you know likes tea here, it’s not very high strong.”

The Tea Lab in Lakewood, which was originally in Cleveland, was named the Best in Cleveland, winning for its selection of premium loose-leaf teas, tisanes, and botanicals.

The teas are all high quality, and they are all tried and tested by the team. Making sure that everything they put out for the community is good, they make sure you’re getting your money’s worth. With the Tea Lab being a small business, they are very supported by the community and other small businesses around them. Tea is not just something you drink. It carries more memories and brings people together.

Carlos Ramos shares, ” There’s a social component around the world for tea… and if you look at a lot of the coffee houses around here, most everybody [is] hunched over a laptop. But when people are sitting down and drinking, especially in our store, they’re sitting around the table and talking to each other.”

The way tea can bring people together and being able to enjoy it at the Tea lab, you’re able to sit down and catch up with people. The bond it brings brings with it the business and the community. It keeps growing every day with the help of his team and the selection of tea.
