Birdtown Brewing opened on April 16, 2026, making it fresh to the Lakewood restaurant scene. The restaurant is housed in a former church, which gives it a pleasant atmosphere. Birdtown Brewing partners with Geraci’s Pizza, which was founded in 1956 by Frances and Michael Geraci.
Birdtown Brewing offers unique pizza with a special recipe from Sicilian family tradition, passed down for generations. Their pizza is set apart by the sauce and the types of pizzas they have. Their sauce is a light, creamy, and delicious red sauce that adds great flavor to the pizza. They also have unique sauces, such as white sauce or pesto.
“I really like our buffalo chicken pizza because it comes with a pesto base, which is a little different,” said employee Adeline Schreib. “Our pesto has no nuts in it, so people with allergies can still have it.”
For their more creative pizzas, they mix traditional styles with crazier ones.
“The hot honey pie is my favorite,” customer Carter Kangas said. “I like to sub the sausage out for bacon; it is really good.”
Not only does Birdtown Brewing have delicious pizza to order in-house, but they also do takeout for those looking to pick up a pizza on the fly. Birdtown Brewing handles the volume of takeout and in-person customers efficiently.
“The amount of communication it takes for the kitchen and the front of house is what makes everything flow effortlessly,” Schreib said. “Without good communication, we wouldn’t be able to do everything as smoothly as possible.”
Birdtown Brewing is located right in the heart of Birdtown, with its choice of building making for a beautiful place to eat.
Manager Ryan Grammerstore said, “I love the community that we’re in. It’s really nice being off Madison, kind of in the neighborhood.”
Birdtown Brewing is not only bringing good food to the community but also building community and uplifting Lakewood. They prioritize customer service and making an impact in the local neighborhood.
“We have received such great praise, and just being able to meet all these amazing neighbors,” Grammerstore said. “They’ve all come in telling us the stories about either going to the church or getting married in the church. So it’s been a really cool thing where we have been able to connect with the neighborhood.”
Birdtown Brewing has an amazing outdoor patio with lots of tables and space overlooking parts of the church, making it a great place to eat in the summer. They have fairy lights, paintings and even a game room downstairs where you can play while waiting for food or drinks.
Birdtown Brewing has grown up with Lakewood. Plans for Birdtown Brewing originally started in 2014, but with COVID and some other things getting in the way, plans got put on hold.
“We’re glad we waited, because we fine-tuned over the years what we really wanted it to be,” the owner said.
Birdtown Brewing is doing more than just making food; they’re building a home and a community for people. In the heart of Birdtown, Birdtown Brewing is bringing the community together, serving delicious food with amazing service and an overall great atmosphere for a good time.
