Spot On Cleaners was co-founded in 2021 by Andrew Battaglia and Carley McGinty. The company is operated under Battaglia McGinty Holdings LLC. The company began with a goal of improving conditions in the cleaning industry by ensuring cleaners are paid fairly and recognized for their work.
Today the business provides residential, commercial and maintenance cleaning services throughout Lakewood and across West Cleveland. Battaglia said the company currently employs a growing team.
“Right now, we have 12 employees who are doing the cleaning, and then we have an overseas team… so really, we’re about a 16-person team right now.” Battaglia said the company focuses on building relationships with employees and maintaining a smaller, close-knit team.
Spot On Cleaners first began operation in Avon Lake where Battaglia grew up. Over time, the business moved to Lakewood as its client base expanded. “We were cleaning for a lot of people there, and Lakewood allowed us to have our business live there,” Battaglia said.
When St. James Catholic School closed, part of the building was renovated into a shared workspace for entrepreneurs and small businesses, including Spot On Cleaners.

Many of the company’s earliest commercial clients came from that building. Today, Spot On Cleaners operates from a storefront on Westwood Avenue in Lakewood. They work with several nearby businesses, including Icon Cowork, Oster Construction, Within3, The Warrior Club and Sacred Hour Spa. These partnerships have helped the company grow while creating stable, well-paid jobs for employees.
The business started small and built its reputation through local outreach. In the early days, the co-founders promoted their services by speaking directly with residents and business owners around town “We did all the classic things, like putting signs in yards and hangers on doors, cold calling people, posting on Facebook—all of that,” Battaglia said.
As the company gained traction, advertising and word-of-mouth referrals helped bring in new clients. The store front location now helps attract additional customers from people passing by.
Battaglia said employees at Spot On Cleaners are given significant independence in their work. “Everybody who works at Spot On Cleaners owns their own job. They don’t have a boss,” he said. Workers can choose the jobs they take, build relationships with clients and maintain their own cleaning standards while representing the company.
These relationships are what keep people coming back to the store, because they are able to know and trust the people that they are letting into their homes. Brianna Dawson, who works as the Night Manager for Spot On Cleaners said, “the fact that I’m able to help other people the way that I do, just making their space cleaner, nicer, and being able to get paid the worth I know I am, it definitely does make it worth it.”
Those relationships often help clients feel comfortable inviting cleaners into their homes. Brianna Dawson, the night manager for Spot On Cleaners, said the job is rewarding. “The fact that I’m able to help other people the way that I do, just making their space cleaner, nicer, and being able to get paid the worth I know I am, it definitely does make it worth it,” Dawson said.

McGinty said the company also benefits from being part of Lakewood’s strong small-business environment. “Lakewood is a big city, but I want to say it’s a small town where there are many local businesses,” she said.
Spot On Cleaners serves communities around Lakewood as well, reaching neighboring cities and extending as far west as Lorain. “We have a distance and range from our office in Lakewood to where we would clean,” McGinty said.
Looking ahead, Battaglia hopes the company will continue expanding its reputation. “I would love to see Spot On Cleaners become a staple brand in the cleaning industry, like Cleaning Authority and Molly Maid — the big corporate companies that are our competitors. That’s who we’re really competing with. We pay our cleaners much more because we’re not a franchise,” he said.
Spot On Cleaners is more than just a company; it is a small business that serves the city of Lakewood and strives to connect with its customers. “Inside and outside of work, they’re just amazing people. They love to help the community with their work,” said Dawson. People will feel safe and comfortable when they hire these cleaners, which is exactly what Andrew Battaglia and Carley McGinty intended.
