Friday, February 21st:
On Friday, the boys and girls track traveled to Spire Institute for the Indoor Neoitc All-Star Meet. For the boys, Boston Truitt participated in the long jump, Porter ran the 3200, and James, Ethan Moore, Nyle Donaldson, and Porter Gilliland ran the 4×8. For the girls, Charieon Doxley participated in long jump, Bre Bufford and Makaylee Alvies participated in weight throw, Anna Daso, Mae Mohar, Mady Lee, and Josie Kavc ran the 4×8, Charieon Doxley ran the 60m hurdles, Mae Mohar ran the 3200, and Sophia Eccher, Nicole Kemp, Anna Daso, and Charieon Doxley ran the 4×400. Their next meet is the indoor state meet at Spire.
Saturday, February 22nd:
Saturday, the boys’ wrestling team traveled to St. Edward High School to compete in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament. Congratulations to Diezel Edgar for Sectional Runner-Up and becoming a District Qualifier. Additionally, congratulations to Sectional placers Jay-Mal Massengale placing 5th, and Kostandin Laska, John Frolo, and Deacon Nicholson placing 6th. The boys’ wrestling team will compete again on Saturday, March 1st, for the OHSAA District Tournament.
On Saturday evening, the boys’ basketball team went against the Cardinals at Mentor High School. The Rangers put up a fight on the court, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cardinals, with the final score being 66-79. Senior Luke Vannucci led the team with multiple three-pointers to help the Rangers stay in the game. Although the game ended with a loss for the Rangers, they won experience playing against bigger teams, a challenge they will face again in the playoffs. This game marked the end of the Varsity boys’ regular basketball season and was the Freshmen and JV teams’ final game for the 2024-2025 season. The Rangers will take back the court at home for their first playoff game against the North Ridgeville Rangers.
Sunday, February 23rd:
On Sunday, the girls’ wrestling team traveled to Avon Lake High School to compete in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament. Congratulations to the District Qualifiers Zayna Muntaser who was the Sectional Champion, El Tha and Riley Robertson who were the Sectional Runner-Ups, and Stella Ziegler who got 4th place. Additionally, congratulations to the Sectional placers Savanah Tate placing in 5th, and Abigail Preston in 6th.
The girls’ gymnastic team traveled to Hudson High School to compete in their district meet. Each girl did an amazing job as this will wrap up their 2024-2025 season.
