The hockey team went out to Brooklyn, Ohio to take on a league rival. The team won 7-3, backed by 4 goals by freshman Ian Walls, 2 goals by senior Rian Fetting, and 1 goal by freshman Jahari Colon. Fetting and Colon each scored their first high school goal. Walls’s performance earns him the From the Sidelines “Who Put the Hustle in Award.” The team will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 12 in the Bay Holiday Tournament.
The wrestling team had a tri-match with Avon Lake and Saint Ignatius last night, winning with 59 points. Sophomore Saumeir Payne led the team, winning his match against Saint Ignatius, 10-2. Senior Quincy Vales won his match against Avon Lake in 52 seconds. Sophomore Kostandin Laska had a tough match, winning 12-5 against Avon Lake with a last-second pin. Wrestling’s next meet is Dec. 12, when they will compete in the Riverside Rumble. Good luck, Rangers!
The boys and girls swim and dive teams both headed out to Parma to face the Normandy Invaders. Each team won their meet. The boys team was backed by seniors JP McManoman and Billy Cummings, who got first and second place in the diving category. The girls team was backed by a strong performance by junior Riley Swift in the 400 meter freestyle. Both teams will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 8 at home against North Olmsted High School.
