The boys and girls indoor track and field teams opened their seasons Thursday at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, turning in several impressive performances.
The boys team broke multiple school records, including the 4×200-meter relay. Sophomore Boston Truitt set school records in the long jump and 200-meter dash, earning him the From the Sidelines “Who Put the Hustle In” award. Junior Tyrese Gatling broke the school record in the 60-meter dash. Junior Porter Gilliland placed first overall in the 1,600-meter run, and sophomore Landon Vincel finished second overall in the 3,200-meter run.
The girls team also had a strong showing. Junior Makaylee Alvies broke the school record in the weight throw. Junior Nicole Kemp placed first overall in the 60-meter dash, and senior Sophia Eccher finished third overall in the long jump.
Both teams return to action Thursday, Jan. 22, at SPIRE Academy.
