Lakewood wrestling faced Beachwood during a pep rally on Friday, facing a harsh loss. Lakewood scored match victories from Joshua Kelley Moore, Sullivan Mestek, and Deacon Nicholson. Sullivan Mestek beat his opponent 21-5, scoring a significant victory for Lakewood.
The boys and girls indoor track teams had their NEOITC All-Star Invitational on Friday night, for those who qualified. Junior Porter Gilliland earned 5th overall in a fast 3200m contest. Sophomore Boston Truitt got second in the long jump, earning him From the Sidelines “Who Put the Hustle in Award.”
On the girls side, the 4x200m relay and 4x400m relay each qualified for the State meet, which will take place Friday, March 6.
Saturday, Feb. 21
The boys and girls swim teams had their district meet on Saturday, which featured many strong performances
On the boys side, Junior Graham McAlvey earned 8th overall in the 500m freestyle, earning him From the Sidelines “Who Put the Hustle in Award.” The 200m medley came in 9th, dropping 1.37 seconds on their season best.
For the girls, Junior Riley Swift placed 12th in the 500m freestyle, and 17th in the 200m free. This was the last meet for the boys and girls for the 2025-2026 season.
