Trump Calls African Countries “Sh!thole” During Meeting

“Why do we want all these people from sh!thole countries coming here?”

    “They all have AIDS.”

    “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists…”

Three phrases that will strike disgust in some people and resonate with others. But overall are controversial as they came out of the mouth of our president, Donald Trump.

They are all in addressing to his avid rejection of immigration from countries such as Mexico and Haiti. His comments on AIDS correlated to the Haitians.

His comment of these “sh!thole countries” was uttered after it was proposed at an oval office meeting. It was Trump’s response after it was proposed that they cut the time for the Visa lottery for the underrepresented countries in Africa, including Haiti that he had already made derogatory comments towards in June.

The White House created a press release, not denying that this was said, but rather trying to spin it as if Trump was impassioned rather than acting inappropriate or, even without the racially charged statement as it is still rather vulgar, unpresidential.

The press release said as follows: “like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation.”

The fact that it resonates is what reveals how Trump came to office. In modern time there still are populations that have anti-immigration sentiments, stretching to racially charged roots. Many reporters are disgusted, an example being Anderson Cooper who was brought to tears (as he had past experiences of covering the 2012 Haitian earthquake and had seen their perseverance of human spirit) while then saying Trump could learn dignity from these Haitians.
