    Attention Seniors, if you are interested in representing your class and speaking at commencement, sign up in the bookroom or outside room C215. Tryouts will take place on March 20th, at 3:15pm in Mr. Lamphear’s room C215.

     

    Attention AP Students:  Registrations for the AP exams are now underway in the Book Room.  Registration forms are available in the Bookroom, from your AP teachers and your house office. A $15 deposit per exam is required and due by March 23rd.  This date is set by the College Board, therefore we cannot accept deposits after March 23rd or you will have to pay a $55 per test LATE Fee!   See Mr. Siftar if you have questions.

     

    Are you thinking about a career in education?  Interested in $1000?  If you answered YES, you should apply for the Lakewood Leadership Team Scholarship.  Simply upload one of your college application essays and two letters of reference, then answer two questions about your activities and future plans this link is in Naviance.

     

    The deadline for application is April 4, 2018.

     

    Looking for a great summer job?  Lakewood Recreation is now hiring enthusiastic and responsible students for summer jobs such as lifeguards, pool attendants, concession workers, baseball scorers and more!  Complete an application at www.lakewoodrecreation.com/summerjobs  Lifeguard training courses are available this spring – sign up today!

     

    Enjoy a cup of steamy hot cocoa and help find a cure for children’s cancers.  All proceeds from this H2O hot chocolate sale will sponsor Alex Aoun as he braves the shave for St. Baldrick’s. Pick up a cup of sweet or spicy hot chocolate after school today in the Door 2 Hallway.

     

    Seniors, our Local Scholarships deadlines continue to come and go…… Make sure that you are applying for these great opportunities!!!  The Lakewood Rangers Education Foundation deadline is March 19th.  The application packet with all information can be found on the foundation website, www.lakewoodrangers.com under the Programs section.  Please look outside of the Guidance Office on the table or in Naviance for these scholarships.

     

    Also seniors! If you are planning to go to college, a technical or trade school, please stop by the House 3 office or the guidance office and pick up an OAPSE 129 scholarship application. The application is open to all seniors and you could get $500 towards your tuition!

     

    Are you a senior planning to attend college next year and major in education?  If this is you, there are opportunities for $500 scholarships available through the Lakewood Teachers Association.  Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and an essay. Further information about the on-line application is available in the guidance department and on the LHS web page.  Completed applications are due on Friday, April 13, 2018.  It’s not too soon to get started!

     

    The Ranger Hub is now open for study hall students.

    We are pleased to announce that Jordan Bozak and Emily Perry have earned national recognition in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. These students have been identified by panels of creative professionals as the most talented young artists and writers in the nation. This year, nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top 1% were recognized at the national level. Congratulations to Emily and Jordan for receiving such a prestigious honor!

     

    Everyone with a golden ticket, tomorrow we will be drawing tickets for the end of the quarter special prizes, so be sure to get your golden tickets turned in to House 1 by the end of today.
