This past Sunday, golfer Patrick Reed was immortalized into Masters history with a Masters Tournament victory at Augusta National Golf Club in a very competitive field of athletes. The 27-year-old golfer was able to out perform some of the best golfers in the game such as Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy.

Jordan Spieth was able to capture an early first round lead on Thursday with a 2 stroke lead ahead of the rest of the field. But his lead didn’t last that long. After shooting an impressive 66 in Round 1, Spieth would go onto shooting a 74 in Round 2. With Spieth’s horrendous Second Round, Patrick Reed was able to jump to first place shooting a 66 to give him a 2 stroke lead.

Reed would eventually go onto holding that top spot for the remaining two rounds despite excellent comebacks from Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler. Reed when onto shoot a 67 and 71 respectively to finish with 15 under par.

Reed’s success at the Masters wasn’t the only highlight of Masters week. We saw the reappearance of a former golf great make his way back to the top of his game. That player is Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods has been plagued with a variety of personal issues as well as multiple injuries ranging from a MCL sprain to various back surgeries over the past several seasons.

Although Woods had an above average first round, he would go onto finishing the tournament one over while placing tied for 32.

This year’s Masters proved yet again that you don’t have to be the best in the field to win the tournament. The next major golf championship will be the U.S. Open which will take place in Shinnecock Hills, New York. Hopefully we will see Tiger there continue his quest to catch Jack Nicklaus!
