    College Football Rankings

From the beginning of the season to now, the college football rankings have changed drastically. Every week, in the top 10 at least one team loses giving another team a chance to make a run at the College Football Playoff. Alabama is the one exception to this trend in college football as they have stayed atop the rankings at number one all year. Senior Adam Hascher said, “I don’t think Alabama is for real. They’ll fall somewhere along the way”.

At the beginning of the season, the top 5 teams were Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Wisconsin and Ohio State. Since then, only three of those teams remain after both Notre Dame and LSU have climbed into the top 5. Notre Dame is 7-0 this year beating both 6th ranked Michigan and Stanford. LSU started off the season ranked number 25 in the polls but jumped up to five after beating Miami, Auburn and Georgia. They are 6-1 on the season and their only loss was to Florida.

There are other teams that have not made it into the top 5, but have certainly made some noise in the polls. The nation thought that Texas and Michigan would underachieve this season, but they both sit in the top 10 and are in contention for the College Football Playoff. Michigan is 6-1 on the season as their on only loss came to Notre Dame in week one. They had an impressive win over 15th ranked Wisconsin beating them 38-13 at home.

Michigan also has three big games coming up against Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State. Texas on the other hand is impressing the country even more with wins over USC, TCU and Oklahoma who are all ranked in the top 25. Under 2nd year coach Tom Herman the Longhorns look like they are ready to contended for a playoff spot.
