Railroad crossings to be closed

April 26, 2019
In Lakewood Ohio, multiple railroad crossings will be closed to be upgraded starting April 22nd and could last for up to two weeks. The construction is a part of a large project that the railroad company is doing from W. 25th Street in Cleveland all the way to Bay Village Ohio.
This will affect many people because of the way they may take to work, school, or just to get around town. Many people will have to plan a new route around the railroad crossings and the streets that are being “upgraded.”
Also, this could be a disadvantage to the foreign exchange students who came from Germany and people who are not from Lakewood that don’t know their way around Lakewood. This is because the people who took them in could not show them around Lakewood fully.
The streets are:
FRY ST
BEACH AVE
NICHOLSON AVE
BELLE AVE
ST. CHARLES AVE
BROCKLEY AVE
HALL AVE
EDWARDS AVE
WEBB RD
So if you drive or live on those streets make sure to watch out and take a different route for a few weeks. Freshman Owen Murray from Lakewood High School told his opinion about the construction, he said,” Knowing Lakewood this will take a while and may become an inconvenience to students driving to school. I also have to pick a friend up that lives on one of the streets so before we knew about the closings it made us all late to school.”
Lakewood always has some kind of construction going on and it usually takes much longer than the expected date is so hopefully, they can stick to the two-week plan but my guess is that they won’t.
