Two Poems by Louise Figueiredo

Figueiredo, Louise

“The Lost Puzzle”

Oh, my heart came to a crumble

With the pieces scattered all around

Each piece was a part of a puzzle

The puzzle was all the memories in which were created

The memories will never fit into what they used to be

I must live on and cherish with an unbroken heart

Full of pieces that can never be put back together again

“Gossip”

The mouths of humans run wild

Like the sound of a airhorn on replay

We can’t stop with the chatter

No matter the issue

In school or work or library or dinner

Words will fall and things will be said

To fill the unpleasant air
