Goodbye Club Penguin. We’ll Miss You.

Goodbye Club Penguin. Well Miss You.

Everyone’s beloved favorite internet game will be shutting down forever on March 29, 2017. This is a very sad day for all the kids and young adults that poured countless hours into this fantastic Disney PC game. The company’s reasoning for shutting down the game is because of a new mobile game Disney plans to release called Club Penguin Island, which has been in development for the past several years. Many of the kids that played this game were very new to the world of computers and internet, and Club Penguin was the ice breaker of that.

For many, it opened up many gates to the world of PC gaming and social media. The game had many little activities that kids alike could partake in. Games such as racing and other mini games.

The game was released in 2005, and it was revolved around little penguin characters that everyone got to make and adopt as themselves. Besides games, users could also chat amongst themselves and build their virtual homes with many in-game accessories and add-ons.

Originally not Disney owned, the company sold to them in 2007, a deal that valued at around 700 million dollars. The site at one point had over 205 million users.
