    Swim Team Dominates Districts

    Swim+Team+Dominates+Districts

The Lakewood Boys’ and Girls’ Swim Team traveled to Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons!) on February 18th, 2017. Although the team as a whole did not medal, relays and individual events did.

On that Saturday the team collective broke, or rebroke, four records.  This showcased how talented our swimmers are at Lakewood High School. The first record of the meet was broken by Senior Kelley Reis. She placed 5th overall in the 100 yard Fly, and broken the school record with a time of 57.11. The Boys’ team then rebroke their old record in the 200 yard Free Relay. Nick Ferrone, Colman McGuan, Evan Gainous, and Preston Polen are all part of this relay, and placed 10th overall, rebraking their school record with a time of 1:31.07.

After the boys with their new record the girls 200 yard Free Relay broke the school record. Kelley Reis, Julia Neff, Emma Bressler, and Maggie McHugh make up this relay, finishing 8th overall and breaking this school record with a time of 1:42.30. The last record broken in this meet was the girls 100 yard Backstroke. Kelley Reis rebroke her record with a time of 57.22, and finished 6th overall. Four records in one meet is a huge accomplishment.

The entire Lakewood family was very proud of everyone who set their personal records, and the record breakers. These swimmers and their records will be displayed on the new record board at the pool. Stop by and take a look, everyone should be proud to be a Ranger.
