Burke Fortner

Burke Fortner is a junior at LHS. He is on the swim and baseball teams. I asked him questions about his baseball career and got an inside look on his perspective of the sport as one.
Q: How long have been playing baseball?
A: I began playing t-ball at 4 years old and haven’t stopped since then.
Q: What position(s) do you play?
A: I play second base for the high school and for my summer league I play second base and outfield.
Q: When is the first game of the season and who is it against?
A: Our first game is today, Wednesday, March 29 2017 against Berea-Midpark (away) at 4:30.
Q: What do you expect this year for your team?
A: I expect great things. Hopefully ending up at states.
Q: Do you plan to play in college?
A: No because I want to focus on my education.
Q: What is your favorite thing about baseball
A: The excitement the game brings.
Q: Do have any advice for younger players?
A: Don’t let your dreams be dreams.
Q: Who is your favorite baseball player and who does he play for?
A: David Freese, he is the third baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
As I mentioned before Burke also is a swimmer for Lakewood and was just announced one of the captains for the next season. I wish the baseball team the best of luck and I hope to see all of the fans at the games to support the Ranger’s season.
