IOS 11 – What to Expect

IOS 11 - What to Expect

iOS 11, the next big update to Apple’s mobile operating system, is already being developed at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino, California. Although we don’t know much about the update yet, there are rumors going around about the potential upcoming features that could appear in the new update. Based on some recent patents Apple has filed, there is reasoning to believe all of these features could very well be included in the release of iOS 11, if not a later update.

    Updated FaceTime

There has been much speculation of an updated and improved Facetime this upcoming update. The release of iOS 10 focused largely on the improvement of the messages app, which was heavily ignored for several updates. iOS 11 is expected to focus a lot on iOS’s native video calling app, which will put Facetime in competition with other video call services such as Skype, Houseparty, or Oovoo. The biggest feature expected to come is group calling, and any iOS user knows this would be awesome.

    iPad Exclusive Updates

There are rumors speculating some iPad specific updates in the works. Specifically, Apple is reported to be working on an expanded Apple Pencil support for the iPad Pro, which would be combined with hardware improvements to introduce features like smoother on-screen zooming and scrolling. Additionally, there has been rumor of a new iPad with a Macbook Pro-Like touch bar.

    New Design

Solely based on speculation, iOS 11 could possibly introduce new design changes. Apple has not had a big design update since iOS 7, which was released in 2013. A popularly suggested feature called Dark Mode could be included in the potential new phone update.
